So, I started off planning a classic Litrpg fantasy with all the usual levels and stats, but somewhere along the way, I ended up giving my MC an sarcastic AI with its own consciousness instead and, honestly, I am still not sure where this is all going!

Has anyone else ever completely changed a plan at the last minute? Maybe in writing, or even in life? How did it turn out? I’d love to hear about any unexpected twists you’ve experienced and how it changed things for the better (or worse)!

Also check out my story and let me know your thoughts!

I had a completely different outline for a story. But as I wrote and the characters developed, along with the story, it reached a completely different outcome.

It happens and that is perfectly normal, if you are not a strict planner.

I scrapped a 40-chapter story arc a week before I was supposed to start to release it once.
Wow, scrapping a 40-chapter arc is a huge decision and I can't even imagine the nerves that must've taken! I admire the courage to make such a bold change. Sometimes those last-minute shifts lead to something even better.

That sounds like such an organic way to let the story unfold! It’s always interesting how characters can take over and lead you in unexpected directions. Thanks for sharing your experience, it's nice to know I'm not the only one who ends up somewhere totally different from where I started.

That was the worst one but I do that sort of thing often. My story is dark fantasy and it can get really grim sometimes so I end up cutting the worst parts out of the version I post online.

It's difficult but sometimes there are entire chapters that just don't fit right/don't fit the vision I would want it to go so if I've already spent way too much time on it I'll just scrap it and try again, and if I haven't spent way too many hours on it I'll just move on.
Rather something that most closely fits my view than slop
