Ever have those days where you felt like you've lost the ability to read?

I'm a big reader. Always have been. Although when I was young, I only stuck to manga and comic books. Fictional prose reminded me of school textbooks (yikes). It's only been a few years ago since I started reading fiction prose and became addicted ever since.

But there were some instances where I felt like I'd lost the ability to read. You know, one of those days where you just didn't feel it but wanted to read anyway. My mind was cloudy. Images didn't form as clearly in my head like they used to. I remember rereading Stephen King's It—the first few chapters—and seeing Pennywise as a funny cartoon-ish clown painted by a three year old (and here I thought that book was scary).

Ever have those moment?

Yes. As an avid enjoyer of Library of Ruina/Limbus Company, I'd say reading is hard. Comprehension? What's that?

On a more serious note, yeah, it can feel like that sometimes where you can't picture what you're reading. It's like having micro dementia. You can't remember the last sentence so the current sentence makes zero... wait, what was the topic again? Or you're just gobbling words with your eyes. I remember turning to manga because it stuck with me for a while, but the mind-fog does go away (usually with good sleep. I find exercise/gym to be awesome at keeping the mind-fog away).

Well, I once couldn't read after I took 12 Benadryl tablets (not recommending this btw, not a good time). I also lost the ability to distinguish different shades of color from each other. That was quite the experience, everything was dissociated. The rest of the time was quite the terrible experience though, so again, I don't recommend this.

Damn. How does that work? You just... stare at it?

That's a real comfort, thanks~ ?
I enjoy consuming literature, but I don't seek to. I love it when I read a good sentence from my textbook yet I hate the idea of text book

I must admit, there are times when I experience such moments. It occurs particularly when I am feeling drowsy. Though I am aware that I should rest, the book I am reading is so captivating that I find myself unable to put it down, so I struggle to comprehend the words on the page but enjoy it nonetheless.

I have felt those moment sometimes
In times where I got those moments I just stop reading and listen to music or just stare at nothing and imagine something be it some useless things, abstract things or just an epic fight unfolding with my imagination.

That happened to me very often a few months ago. But I was really addicted back then and would read at the exspense of sleep

I suggest audiobooks for the days that your brain refuses to focus if you really want to have a book happening around you but it's fine if your brain is demanding a maintenance day and you can't focus, as those are the days you can do no-brain activities like cleaning, yardwork, or exercise.
Just as autumn and fall exist as seasons so too the days where you just can't do X so you have to figure out Y

I do indeed! Generally it is because I haven't gotten enough sleep. For stories, sometimes I want to give a scathing review and nitpick because it feels absolutely souless and I want to fall sleep because it just feels impossibly unimaginative and bland. For those, there is a good chance that taking a nap will fix what is wrong with me as a reader, rather than whatever issue or boredom I derive from wanting to read it. Then I can enjoy it.

It is only on the rare occasion where I am like, no, my first impression was right. This sucks Atta. A real dumpster fire of a story that makes you feel like you've lost the ability to read.

LOL! That's definitely me!
