I'm a male writer, trying out writing romance stories for the first time in my story of a piano turning into a girl, with the mc slowly becoming attracted to her.

I'm trying to decide on a tag on Early Romance and Late Romance

I know that Early Romance means that the Romance comes early in the story and Late Romance means that it comes late.

But can I get a specific definition?

Like, when Early romance means "early", how early? The idea of romance being introduced in the first few chapters?

When late romance means "late", how late? What does it mean by late? 500 chapter in? Romance after a serious plot? What?

For my story, I want it to only focus on these two protagonists which will eventually fall in love throughout the story as the sole interest.

Early means before the plot starts moving. 1-10 chapters in a 100 chapter story.
Late means near the end. 50-100 chapters in a 100 chapters story.

I feel like these tags are meant for Romance as a subplot, not when romance is the entire point of the story.

Then again, I just looked and there really aren't many 'Romance' tags. Two of them are redundant and one of them doesn't have a definition yet. Needs some work, lol.

So can we be assured that the MC will eventually work her body like the fine instrument she is? That his hands will fly along her soft curves, summoning from her hushed cries at every touch like the sweetest of symphonies?

I would say that pre-established romance is what works best if you provide scenes of the duo's love. Perhaps, a married couple of nobles, they didn't love each other truly, but due to the progression of the plot, their feelings transform into reality.

Ideally, love that blooms during the plot between former strangers could be the best storywise, but writing that is extremely difficult without turning it into some cringy tsundere+masochist (or any other combination that outright destroys any emotion for the characters other than those represented by the type) pile of crap.

EDIT: On the other hand, tsun might be what you want and I'm not here to judge xD

I'd go for early romance cause it feels more like they have chemistry and feelings early on in the romance and the audience will get to experience the relationship early on which I love to read.
The late romance sorta feel like something demiromantics mc story will have or for writers aren't confident in their romantic scene writing to make it work and if you drag it out unreasonably it'll get tiring and frustrating
