Drop Ratio.

As an author what do you think is a good drop ratio. I feel bad when I see that someone dropped one of my stories, mostly because I'm not sure what I could have done to improve. So far the story I'm working on has a read-to-drop ratio of 55:6. Is that good or bad? My goal was at least 10:1 but maybe that is too far-fetched for me.

The number of people who add your story to the reading list and the number of people who actually read your story are usually not the same. So the ratio doesn't matter.

Ratio only matters if you're making money off of it. If you're just looking to make the money a good drop ratio should be less than 5% starting out, but really you should be focused on how many views and readers you get since you're going to be trying to milk money from them to be attached to a story you only release a little bit at a time of. Drop ratio doesn't matter, what matters is how many readers and valid reads you have.

After all, you want that sweet subscriber money.

If you're not after the money, drop ratio doesn't matter because a lot of people will drop reading something just because they read one thing they didn't like. You put in NTR and your drop ratio will bump up when it happens.

Drop ratio is something that would vary heavily depending on the story, and I don't think there's something like good or bad drop ratio. If you have a long story where a lot of different themes come one after another, many people will drop after coming to one they don't like. Generally the long stories tend to have much more people drop them. I'd say as long as it's not very high like 5:1 then you're good. 55:6 isn't a very good score, but it's certainly not bad.

Don't think much about it. People's tastes vary over time; what may be unpopular now may be popular later, and vice-versa. And that matters when you're planning on monetizing on your work too. Otherwise, just write, and have fun with it.

(Also, site reputation matters. You don't want to upload your smut-filled, slave-harem, isekai story (just for example, of course) in sites like Inkitt, since they cater to a certain demographic)
