Dragon Appearance. What is better to depict it? From Despair? or from Majestic entrance?

Personally I say Despair. Western dragons are menace that kidnaps princesses without any political backlash :( They are conspiring with the kings DO NOT TRUST ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE THEY'RE WORKING FOR THE KINGS!

Majestic appearance. Dragons are basically fictional animals. Animals will do what they are in nature. Same as a lion, it can look majestic and that's it.

An 'apex' lifeform would have an 'apex' desire. Imo it's better to think dragons as capricious without restriction. A capricious being with absolute power would have different nature so either option is fine, but then again, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. It allows you to ignore the consequences of your actions. Therefore I think Despair is more fitting.

Depends on what reaction you want to invoke. If the characters think a Dragon is going to slaughter them without mercy, then despair. If they think the cavalry just arrived, then majestic.

Bonus points if they turn out to be wrong and then you can swap to portraying them the other way around.

As long as you write them as superior to all other lifeforms you should be good.

Why not both?
