Here is the thing: we all have goals. They might be about writing, they might be about drawing, or walking, or learning a language or learning a new recipe. Heck, they might also be about learning a martial art.

The point of this thread is to just work towards the goal for 5 days. Without providing details.

Just say:

Day (insert day here):

Completed my goal.

I am grateful for (write what you feel comfortable sharing.)

I struggled with. (that is just optional. You don't need to share if you don't feel comfortable doing so.)

See you tomorrow. (You know if you feel like continuing the challenge.)

And free text, if you feel like it.

The Scribble Hub Forum is a great community, which I missed during my time away from it. Let us all be each other's accountability buddies! =)

Thank you for your time!

Day 1:

Completed two of my goals. (writing and drawing.)

I am grateful for: the lovely warm weather the whole day. It was nice and sunny.

See you tomorrow!

Day 2:

I didn't want to draw, but I still did. Wrote some too.

I am grateful for: the amazing Microsoft AI Generator. I hope I'll be able to draw well enough one day to not need it anymore, but today it gave me a lovely book cover.

See you tomorrow!

=)

Day 1:

Completed my goal of editing a fat stack of chapters!

. . .

I'm grateful for Microsoft Copilot. It answered all of my questions about which sentences needed a "that" for the past hour. Basically, it seems to all come down to what feels right.

Since Obi-wan said to trust my feelings, I'll go ahead and stop worrying about misplaced "thats" forever now.

Ex1: I think that frogs are green. (Feels bad, cut the "that.")

Ex2: I said that I'm the president. (Feels...okayish? Fuck. Help me, Obi-wan Kenobi! You're my only hope!)

Copilot says the second "that" is fine either way, so my iffy feelings are apparently right.

. . .

I struggled with editing the saddest chapter ever.

I'm a perfectionist, but I'm also terrible and never actually get things perfect, which means I've gone back and edited these chapters many times already. The editing's especially rough since this is someone else's novel, and I feel awful about any errors I miss.

Anyway, this one chapter kills me every single time I read it, which I must have done about ten times by now. Fortunately, I don't think I'll have to read it again until I'm done translating the entire series, at which point I plan to go back and read the whole novel again one last time.

You don't want to know how many tears this one stupid chapter has made me cry.

. . .

I buffed my goal for day 2. If I don't procrastinate (ha!), it should still be pretty easy.

Day 3:

Wrote and drew! Also, managed to keep my job despite some weird things happening. =)

I am grateful for: my cats. I am just happy they are alive and let me give them belly rubs. XD It was tough without cats in the capital. Unbearable.

See you tomorrow!

=)

Day 2:

(Very) Partially completed my goal. I'll be up until 3 AM doing the rest, probably.

I'm grateful for TextCrawler 3, which makes my editing process countless times faster and easier.

I struggled with Reddit, Youtube, and a video game, as is tradition.

Day 3:

Nope. 1/10 of my daily goal was achieved, but I'll try to stay up late and finish at least some of the rest.

I found out that my increasingly frequent computer freezes, crashes, and slowdowns are due to my main SSD rapidly dying, which led me down a computer upgrading rabbit hole all day.

On the plus side, I left plenty of room to upgrade my PC when I built it six years ago, and tons of awesome new parts have come out since then. On the minus side, I can't afford any of it right now. So it goes. After I save up about $1k, my computer's going to kick so much ass.

For now, I'll either install Windows on my little backup SSD and chuck the dying one or pull out my ancient backup computer from 12 years ago, which was an ultra-budget build even then. Still works, though.

I struggled with ^, and I'm grateful for the existence of the cool (but expensive) CPUs and video cards I spent way too much time researching today.

This is super late due to all sorts of terrible shit nobody cares about, but I'm going to pretend the last month and a half didn't happen, so...

Day 4!:

Goal achieved! I should have the novel I'm translating fully re-edited by the deadline I gave myself (Feb. 1), and new chapters will finally start getting posted again a couple of days later.

I'm grateful for the many writers whose works have given me the motivation to write my own novel.

Day 5:

Goal more or less achieved!

Today, I'm just grateful for soft beds.
