I downloaded a dating sim game called Doki-doki Literature Club. I saw it on my recommendation and because I've played dating Sims before, I'm interested. I causally downloaded it yesterday. Unwinding until bedtime, I decided to check it out tonight...

Suddenly... This Sayori girl starts becoming depressed and I felt a little bit of dread. After all, I was making choices randomly without care so I suddenly feel like I didn't take her seriously, especially when she starts ranting and crying.

Now I'm being prompted to make a choice: Say I love you or call her best friend.

I feel like something bad is gonna happen. However, I prefer the girl Yuri but I don't know what choice I should make here now. I feel like I can't be careless.

This isn't a casual dating sim, bloody hell.

It's been fully released for years, if there was another game planned after release, it's not technically a demo, so much as an experiment in the genre.

It was supposed to be a sample of a bigger game. Which is why Literature Club was so short.

So, after looking into that a bit, the expanded version is all they ever actually planned. Fans speculated more after finding weird chunks of code and a QR code that leads to a project by the same dev team, but it was never stated by the developers they planned to do more. So a lot of the hints were just vague Easter eggs they could've used IF they chose to expand the game, but those Easter eggs are still creepy enough to just be part of the base game for no purpose other than to creep out players. There are a lot of mods about expansions, but no official ones were ever confirmed.

Yeah... Welcome to DDLC, a psychological horror game disguised as a cute dating sim where everyone can die, and you get scared because you didn't pay attention in the first ten minutes of the game. Whether you decide to keep playing the rest... that's up to you.
