Plaid is a main theme, but it isn't strictly necessary. It will need some other patterns with detail like the plaid. Such as stripes, or a band shirt.

As far as I can't tell. Plaid usage by grunge is because of Kurt Cobain of Nirvana

Now for controversial opinion: Nirvana is and was overrated

I think it was more of a Nirvana thing than a grunge thing in general. T-shirts and skinny jeans usually work universally for punk scenes as well.

Now for controversial opinion: Nirvana is and was overrated
Counterpoint: You had a guy who couldn't play guitar for shit writing some of the most iconic riffs of the 90s.

do you have cps ? (or I guess what drawing program do you use?) because there are a lot of free to use/royalty free pattern resources for plaid on cps and other websites like deviantart if you don't use csp!
