I dont know if this is going to be approved, or if this has been brough up before I am going to be quite frank here, but this for @Tony (who from what I can put together is the big cheese, if I am worng please tell me) and mods., but I want it public so there are no misInterpretations:

The speed of this forums and the overall site is just...well..slow.

Even on my connection, which is pretty much the fastest you can get residential -- the loadtime on this is extrememly slow. Also with the current crisis of stories (like mine) not showing up at ALL. I think there needs to be some reconsidering of the hosting services This site is currently with cloudflare at least by DNS entry, and I understand that given how well cloudflare protects against DDOS attacks, and things like that but I think there are better option.

Also I think what is going on with the DB is a cache problem, or temp files issue... but I am spitballing since I don't have access to it.

But what package is this site running off of? a $20/mnth package, or worse, a FREE one?. At the time of this posting 1500+ people are logged into the forum. Now, I am realsitic, and I am not saying all of these users are chewing bandwidth, but even if just 2/3 are actively posting, reading etc., that still a lot of bandwidth. IS this server privately hosted in some closet somewhere, and just using cloudflare as a DNS? I am not trying to insult...just asking questions.

I also recommend getting rid of the banner and require like a $5/month subscription fee. Yes... some will balk...THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FREE, etc.. But we have gone apparently down the cheap hosting mode, and look at what it has gotten us. if every member of the is forum (5000+) were to donate $5, then this sitecould run on an $200 month plan for 10 years($25000/200 =10.41 years, and that could be gathered in short time)

Some will say: "OH PATRICK... you are pissed off becuase your story isn't showing up, etc., etc." - and yeah.. I am. But I am also a fixer.. I have run database servers before for websites, and well has whole domains..., and this seems to be a relatively easy fix. I am assuning that @Tony has a life outside of this, and is havingtrouble taking time to address this issue.

To put my money where my mouth is.. I will donate $250 for the first month of Cloudflares enhanced services. And @Tony... please contact me privately on here to talk privately about possible having me as a DBA. I will give you or any of the mods a priavte phone number to contact me on so we can talk voice to voice (or face to face if you want to do a video call)

Now I submit myself to the moderation "gods" for this post to be approved or not. If you do reject this post, please contact me directly and explain why. I have not said anything controversial or derisive here. I am just trying to offer a solution to an obvious problem.

I thank you for your time.

Uhm... It might be your ISP/DNS being funky.
For me, both the forum and the main site works flawlessly. Fast and snappy, just as intended.
Instances when something takes longer than a second to load are super rare and are more a fault of my ISP than SH.

That's not forums members but users of both forum and main site.

90% of that 5000+ are silent readers. out of 10% authors 9.999% are hobbyists who can't even afford a cover.

Even when I use a vpn it loads in 5 seconds or so. Without it load in two seconds or less. I am not sure if it's a me thing or a you thing, but I suggest checking everything on your end again, or maybe asking a friend. Actually, you can even make a poll right here, on this very forum, asking how fast or slow the site is. You won't get a lot of responses, but more than one data point is better, right?

My ISP is fine. I'll grant my VPN was connected to a weird server. So mea culpa on that part.

I'll give you VPN possibly causing an issue. But.. I am still confused on the ongoing struggle of some creators (like myself) having stories not showing up. I have never seen a clear answer on this.

I have seen Investigation topic - but I that for series not "being at the top on the 'latest series list'" - but I cannot put together why my first Book (The Room) was published so flwalessly, but the Book 2 (Dominion) is not showing up anywhere? It was approved, etc. but it doesn't show in searches.. nothing... none of the chapters show. This tells me a core DB flaw or a query script flaw.... I am spitballing here because I don't have access the database or the queries.

Really... all I am saying is that I am here to help...look at some of the queries or something, because it's obvious multiple creators are having this issue.

I have 3 other books ready to go in this series.. and I don't want to waste my time uploading them...if they are never going to be seen.

I'm not having issues on my end and have rarely had issues with the speed in the past.
