When I worked nights, blinds + curtains were the only way to get the bedroom dark enough to sleep during the day.

I just use blackout film directly on the window. Why would I ever want light to get inside?

If you're on the second floor bedroom like me, facing a street, you probably want the blinds closed, especially at night... After all, you don't want to chance upon anyone's face staring through the window because you'll have to wonder how they are outside your window... I mean... they don't exist do they? Even if they do, we normal people should be blind to them... right?

I live high enough that I don't have to worry about anybody staring at me through the window, so I don't have to. Plus, I like not killing myself when I have to get up in the middle of the night. So no, my blinds stay up.

I have both. And I also never close my blinds because I forget about them (too much effort to move the curtains, and it's in the back of the house anyways).
