heyhey :)

if u have protagonists and antagonists in ur stories which do u prefer writing?

for me i like writing protags a lil more since i usually write in first person and from one pov so i really get to explore the protag's psyche and character voice through their thoughts :D if i ever write in third person tho i could honestly see myself liking writing the antagonist/s more ! it would be fun planning and writing scenes with the intent of giving readers that "why is this character like this?" feeling while the antagonist's intentions/backstory r still hidden to the reader and protag :)

Both. Even better if it's the same character. I like writing my MC, but my current villain is also fun. Can't wait to write the fight, but I still have like 1 or 2 chapters to write before that.

There's no comparison; writing antagonists is much more fun.

Obviously, both, but that goes against the spirit of this. So, with that said, I enjoy spending time with the protagonists more.

You can't beat writing cartoonishly evil antagonists

Something I learned the hard way is that if the protagonist isn’t your favorite in the story, then you are writing the wrong story

Gotta be protagonists.

Antagonists have limits on what they can be (they must reasonably obstruct the protagonist somehow) but protagonists can be anything

I honestly suck at writing villains lol. They seem to never stick around or be quite impersonal and bland. Then again, I work in 1st person so my protagonist by default will probably be the most characterized character.

If I'm writing first person, the character I am writing is always the protagonist - in their own mind. They may be the real villain of the story, but they do not realize it (I rarely do this, but it can be fun, or at least cathartic).

If I am writing third person, I do like to slip into the bad guy's mindset on occasion but then get back to the heroes, with about a 1:4 ratio, give or take.
