I am thinking of writing another interactive novel. It will be a detective story. I am wondering if the rules of the game makes sense?
So do these make sense? I know they are slightly unorganized at the moment, but are there any obvious loopholes, unclear, and/or is there something missing?
Thank you!
Franz has the ability to bring suspects into an ethereal room of truth, given he has spent 5 minutes with them, or collects the blood or hair of the suspect and knows their name and face. In the room of truth only culprits can lie, however anyone can refuse to answer any question. He can only use the room 3x a scenario + during accusation(s).
Franz’s goal is to find the culprit before the culprit kills him, themselves, or everyone besides Franz and the culprit and complete his scenario. Franz has been cursed to be transported into murder mystery scenarios until he successfully completes 12 consecutive scenarios. To complete a scenario, he is given a task he must complete on top of having to find the culprit(s) before he is killed, the culprit(s) kill themselves, or before they kill everyone besides Franz and the culprit(s).
A scenario will be repeated if Franz can neither find the culprit(s) or complete his task. Repeat scenarios will keep the same location, pieces, and motives but the outcomes will be different.
Franz will be given a suitable identity in each scenario, and must not act outside of their identity. Franz may be given a concrete time limit to complete a task.
To capture the culprit(s) Franz must bring them to the room of truth and correctly identify the motive, how the victim(s) were killed, and how the culprit(s) that he has chosen are the only possible culprit(s) for each crime. His accusation will be judged by an impartial overseer. The possible culprit(s) will also be given a chance to disprove the accusation(s). During the accusation phase both Franz and the accused can only speak the truth, and must present evidence. Confessions made in the room of truth can be used as evidence. If the overseer deems the accused innocent of at least 1 accusation, then the scenario is failed and Franz will be punished.
Before entering a scenario Franz can choose to have an assistant. The assistant will, to the best of their abilities, try and help Franz catch the culprit(s). They may, however try and impede Franz in completing his task. If the assistant is killed, or otherwise dies, Franz will fail the scenarios.
Franz cannot be a culprit. The assistant can not be a culprit.
Culprits are deemed as those who kill, or knowingly assisting those who do kill.
To unlock the room of truth, Franz must complete his task.
