Okay, peeps! I was thinking of a fun game to play, so I'd like you all to be my guinea piggies—I mean beta testers. The game is simple: You roll, you mark, and you try to complete the game.

There are two versions:

  1. Long play: Finish the table in its entirety.
  2. Short play: Complete a row or column.

If you are interested, here is how to play:
  • You start with a 6-sided die. ONLY ONE!
Every set starts with a random table, the numbers mixed up, and with different rules for the turn! As for what different rules? As you can see, some numbers are not on a standard dice. That's because you need to earn a second one while playing! After someone wins, there can be a new table with a new set of rules on how to earn the second die or lose it. Yes, negative rules can be included! For starters, I came up with something supposedly easy, but I need your help to test it. If it's shit, I'll go back to the drawing board.

Rules of Round 1:
  • Rolling the same number twice gets you an extra dice.
  • Rolling consecutive numbers (e.g., rolling a 2, then a 3) gives you a second dice for two rolls.
  • Completing a row or a column gives you a save (only for long play)
  • Rolling two 1s takes away a bonus dice if you have any.
  • Rolling the same number thrice requires using three dice for five turns.

I'm just curious if this sounds remotely fun or not. Or where to change and tweak it.

For rolls, you can use the !roll command. Don't forget, if you decide to play, start with one 6-sided dice! Anyway, if it is fun enough and you complete it, anyone can freely make a new table with different rules; it depends on you, really. That's all.

Is it just me, or are you telling us to die ourselves? :blob_hmm_two::blob_hmm_two:

As an avid ttrpg homebrewer and custom dice game maker myself, I'll start off by saying I love when people try to come up with games, and I love novel ideas.

That said, there are 2 fold issues that I see with this game. First, it's free from player agency entirely, while also still being single player, meaning the game, while rng heavy, is also entirely autonomous. Bingo, at least, has a competitive nature to it.

Second, as a game, it's not very interesting. As a mathematics concept, it's kind of neat because there are deep questions as to what expected gamestates occur due to generalized versions of the rules (what is the expected turn count if you get as many bonus dice as the number you rolled twice, for instance.)

I'd add some amount of player agency for a single player game, solitaire is a good example of this.
