Sorry if this question has been asked before, but wondering, how do I activate comment moderation?

long story short: One of my stories got a bit of traction. Good point in itself, but that brought an annoying commenter, and I think having comment moderation would help me focus on writing than reply to their verbal diahorea. Like 500+ essay on my chapters. Happened twice. As much as I love getting feedbacks, I think, my time is better spent writing than engaging in an any long worded discussion.

On the comment in your chapter, there is an arrow on the top-right corner. Click on that and you'll have these options:

Ah thank you so much. So basically, I have the ability to moderate individual comments, but not enforce approval before commenting? is it?

I'm confused. I have to be missing some context or something.

You're getting lengthy feedback....and complaining about it?

Is the commenter being insulting, or I don't know....anything negative?

Because otherwise, you are getting what pretty much every other writer on this site dreams of.

Nevermind. I apologize. Went looking for myself out of curiosity to see why you wanted someone's comments removed. You handled that beautifully.

If those feedbacks were any constructive, I wouldn't be looking for moderation.
It is okay to have strong opinions. Dislike characters. Or even find the writing style not to readers taste.

"I correct my very first sentence above. f*ck this chapter. Please never write another like this again."
Statements like these are not acceptable.

And the worse part, they have written, things that never happened in the story, like mom raping dad, and accused me of writing it.
There are situations where I, as a writer should engage with readers, even if they have adverse comments and there are situations, where you just walk away, shaking your head. This falls in the latter.

Some readers are just brain farts. You'll encounter more, I assure you. But steel yourself; you don't need them. Keep moderating!

Yes, you can't. You can only delete it after it has been posted. Such system can be abused, see? Like censoring critical comments coz the author doesn't like what was written (yet the feedback is respectful and justified).

I have blocked them and now I can only hope that they don't create new accounts to leave more annoying comments. Had that happen on another platform, but luckily they had comment approval on, so I was safe there.

If it does happen here, you can talk to the admin, Tony, and have it checked. Depending on the offense, they can end up banned or their harmful interactions removed. It's possible to have someone create another account just to spite you coz people are petty. Happened here a few times too, and created drama.

When someone spam comment on the novels, even if it's bad, I just let it slide. They can criticize my novels all they want.

But a line should be drawn somewhere before its transitioned from critisism to personal insults to death threats because things didn't go how they want.

I pin them and have them on blast. It drums up activity and pushes the book up on the rankings. ?
