If you give someone a 1 Marie backstory and they act playful and lively, I'll only see them as weird. If they have a normal backstory and act all Batman, I will feel for them. Not good things, mind you, but they will certainly make me feel for them. Mostly embarassment.
So yeah, they will receive more sympathy from me than a lively and playful one.

Most of the time I'm a very serious person so much so that I have permanent RBF
but when I'm playing with my dog or nieces and nephews I'm a cool laid-back uncle with silly jokes

It depends.
Sometimes I like someone that can still smile and joke around in a dystopian setting.
Sometimes I want to enjoy the black coffee of literature.

Occationally, mix it up. Cold-blooded and playful, killing someone while dancing but expresses no emotion, like a ballerina from a nightmare, or a cat.
Or someone who can joke around but always have their goals in mind, it could be just an act to get what they want.

Lively and playful all the way. There's almost no way for good banter unless you like edgy one-liners. But it depends on the background of the character and the general tone of the story.

Im quite depressed over the years, been a while since i felt warmth and happiness. My day is gloomy, my bed is uncomfortable, and my sleep is restless. My life goal has been broken and I don't know why I'm still alive I haven't jump on the nearby tallest building already.

The vampires I've known have told me that serpent blood is intoxicating and sometimes hallucenogenic. Gecko blood is a little "funky" - whatever that means. Warm blooded creatures provide blood with sobering effects to differing degrees.

Does it work in reverse for you? How strange. Is your clan's originator his Unholiness Belphegor? That could explain it.

Btw my blood made a Vampire Earl puke rainbows for a week straight and made him get a lower jaw prosthetic due to overwhelming mystical toxicity - probably because I traded some metaphysical properties of it in and/or away over the years to and from all kinds of places.

Cold-Blooded and determined because I am cold-blooded and determined.

Yes, I can be Lively and playful, but when the SHTF I drop the fun like a bad habit, and shit gets DONE. It really depends on the situation, because being lively and playful is what I DO to get shit done. When you are dealing with the mentally disabled and they are losing their shit, they become a mirror of you. If staff is having a bad day, they are having a bad day. If you are upset, they get upset. If you are afraid, they are afraid.

So when the building gets snowed in and you are down one staff and it's you and one person with no help coming and there is frickin' thunder snow (I honestly think there is no weather more terrifying than thunder snow.) and you are trapped for 4 days straight, being happy, smiley, and optimistic means the clients have no fear and thus no problems.

You would be surprised how often a situation can be solved just by acting like a fool. Everyone is laughing and all you had to do is crack some jokes and act stupid? I'll do that in a heartbeat. I don't care what people think. I know what I am and what I can do and not one shred of my self-esteem depends on what you think. I am someone at the age of 50 you can drop into the middle of a disaster and I will fix things and get everyone out of trouble. At least once. I might kill myself, but it'll get done.

But I promise you, when the margin for error vanishes and you need to get shit done NOW, I don't feel a thing until AFTER the disaster is fixed. Then I might have a panic attack. There was a situation where I don't even remember how I got everyone out of trouble. I just did it. Asshole blew up his house, set the group home on fire with the debris, everyone was on the street before the other staffer got out of the bathroom. Fortunately, it only scorched the roof.

Then I was over to see what I could do across the street, but alas, it was one of those, Nobody walking out situations. The whole time the other staffer was just screeching, "Oh My God". The Evac was actually unneeded, but I felt better with the clients all safely locked up in the Van than in the house.

If your MC is happy all the time and doesn't take anything seriously, the reader won't.

... I get that cold-blooded has to be a part of determined due to how BS the world works, "you can't have happy endings for all, it is a trade-off".

And then Alphonse Elric said "fuck your couch" and showed Kimbee what's good. The lion chimera also helped, proving that the power of gangbang friendship is lit.

While what I am reading now is all on cold-blooded and determined, I am not heavy on the cold-blooded. Sure I will definitely want the MC that I am following to not leave loose ends here and there like the typical bloody soyboy jap MCs, but I'm all about that grind.

Determined MCs are beautiful, there is just something pretty about them having a glint in their eyes that say "Ima fucking fuck it" and got the dog in them to go ham on that goal.

They can crack jokes, clap asses and be bubbly as fcuk, but they must have something to achieve at the very least. Just that loosening for time to time helps.
