Hi, what's up? Why are you here? Well, Since you are here then help me out. I have been writing and editing the chapters of my story "The Barriard" many times. But, still I Don't know why am I getting reviews of 3 to 4 stars only(On Royal Road). Can you point out somethings which can help the story improve?[And for all my readers on SH. I have Updated all the chapters and the story has improved very much than before. So, you can once again check it out!]

Well, it's not to the point of crushing. But, still I almost only get 3 to 4 stars on my story since its not litrpg genre. (Except for review swaps)

Maybe because the one who reviews does it truly? You know 2.5 means average, it's not bad, but it's not good, 3 is above it. But yes, we all know that most readers see stories under 4 as below average while 4 are just average, but that still doesn't change the fact that some rate it while taking into consideration that 2.5 is average.

There also some who don't like your story and since you make them lose their time with it they rate you low.

Well, maybe. But almost all of them say that it has good potential and with some edits it will be good.

Here's the thing, fans of certain genres (litrpg for RoyalRoad) will rate stories of that genre highly even if the "actual" quality is lower. This isn't isolated to RR. There are many in SH who also auto-five genres they like. (That was my experience a couple of years ago, not sure if they're still around.) But when it comes to stories of other genres, they'll be more critical. Or they may just ignore it altogether, and you'll be left with reviewers who are a bit too serious with their ratings.
Essentially, if you're not meta, expect judgment with higher standards. And the first thing people will judge is grammar.

That grammar is my weak point. Idk about before but there are some people who have actually started to hate the litrpg genre. But, I have only met one person like that. Maybe the majority still like litrpg genre and yeah, my reviews are somewhat critical. There's someone who left me 3.5 stars and there's also some who left 4.5 stars in review. I mean what's with the 0.5? Just give a 3 or 4 or 5.
