Actually that's the thing, this is a weird type of genre that is suppossedly based on an "original premise" where what you described happens, but actually, there is no such thing. These pre-stories are made up, there are no otome games with "villainess" and shit like this, these were all just made up by the original villainess stories that became popular on syosetsu, a japanese page for web novels. So unfortunately you won't be able to find the original source, because there isn't, its a cliche made surrounding a cliche that doesnt exist. I am sure there are some stories now that do the original premise somehow, like going full circle from being something made up to something that is now being made as "original" compare dto the usual mc being self inserted as the villainess instead and doing good things instead of being evil.

Actually, the trope was somewhat inspired by the very first otome game in existence: Angelique. The protagonist's rival, Rosalia, fills this villainess trope, but it is not a 1:1 to the whole villainess-otome genre. It's been a long, long while, but I don't think there was a condemnation event or stuff like that, though the game does follow the format very similarly.

The protagonist is pretty much a girl of no particular repute but has been chosen by the incumbent Queen to become a Queen candidate. The rival, Rosalia de Catargena, is a pureblood aristocrat through and through. She's not evil, but she is certainly the protagonist's prime rival in the race for the throne. There are also multiple endings and "secret" endings that villainess novels like bringing up to extend the story or introduce another isekai'd heroine.

That said, otome games generally don't have a villainess because they are made for escapism. Bullying the player doesn't really add to the experience.

Now it has been several months since I last read it and it isn’t an otome game exactly (but it kinda is, it’s got an otome game in it but then it spirals). Anyways, person gets reincarnated, gets the general villainess treatment because she’s a half elf (or something, either way called a cursed child), gets to school after a while, and plot twist there’s 2 villainesses. The second villainess is an actual villain, but so is the protagonist kinda? So anyways, stuff happens, MC gets sentenced to death but runs away comes back and (minor spoilers!!!! Skip the next two words!!!) murders everyone. (Minor spoilers ended)

Anyways, MC’s engagement gets broken because sentenced to death, so maybe a bit similar as it’s caused sorta maybe kinda by the protagonis.

TL;DR: go read. It’s mostly me failing to summarize one of my three favorite webnovels tied at 1st place. Read if you want.
