Change the way authors add and navigate tags to their stories from "scroll" to something else, the way we have it now is incredibly inconvenient

When we choose and navigate tags for our stories, the scroll to search for it is inconvenient especially with THAT many tags.

I recommend a table, or something much visually appealing such as the "genre" check boxes. It makes it much easier and gives us a better overview on the tags we want to add and reduces the chance of us missing a potential tag which can easily be over-sighted in this scroll function.

To further my point, the scroll function only shows us 5 tags at one time, which there are hundreds from the looks of it. I don't think I need to explain why this is inconvenient.

---

Thank you and if there is a reason why this isn't a thing already then humble me.

You could write in the search box you know. That specifies the tags you need. Like if type "Sh" it's gonna show all tags containing "Sh". You don't need to scroll always. And there are way too many tags to be showed with checkboxes. RR doesn't have much of them. So for them it isn't a problem. And table for it...I really can't imagine it to be better. I still gotta read them to find the suitable tags, same as scrolls.

A table already exists: https://www.scribblehub.com/list-tags/

It's just not on the dropdown list because it wouldn't work out very well with how adding tags work.

Either way, you can look at the list of tags on the organized taglist I linked above, then just type their name out when you want to add them to your story.

I'm well aware of this function, but I'm saying that regardless we should have a table for authors to choose and pick from.

Limitations with that method is that sometimes I don't know what tags I want for my story, and would prefer to check some out from a list, but scrolling is making that inconvenient (i'm also aware about the link to a list of tags on scribble hub, but those are for readers, I would like a list for authors who can simply click on it to add to their stories while editing or creating their stories. Simply, a more accessible tag-list-addition when creating or editing stories). What if someone's story is broad in nature, and need more specific tags but don't know it's name?

Searching is great, but not knowing or simply being adventurous with choosing your tags makes it inconvenient.

but that's not to say searching should be removed. Don't misunderstand, if we do perhaps make a list, or a table for tags for authors, a search bar should still be there for authors.

I found out the existence of this list after you sent this and before I replied to Sir BluePhesant's reply (so I referenced it in brackets in the last reply), thank you. Much easier. I appreciate this!

If it wouldn't work well with how tags work, then it should be preferable to change how the tags work in the first place, like how I'm suggesting much more visual navigation.

I strongly press onto my point for a more less-annoying way to choose, look and put tags into my story instead of relying on this link, which is made for readers to look at stories with those tags rather than to directly help authors pick out their tags (but I do see how it indirectly helps authors though, as you said on your last sentence.)

I find adding tags just as annoying because of this. I can't remember all of them so I always go through the whole list to get the ones that fit best without missing one which takes forever. I would love it if the tags could at least be grouped together. Like, we have a lot of tags that are similar in what they describe:
  • protagonists (blind, calm, carefree, ...)
  • love interests (clingy lover, clumsy, cold, devoted, ...)
  • characters in general (abusive, aggressive, androgynous, arrogant, ...)
  • couples (beautiful, bickering, manly gay, mismatched, ...)
  • settings (places, times, some plot-related ones, although the latter could make up their own plot tag list)
    • (European ambience, Academy, all-girls school, ...)
    • (modern day, modern time, ancient times, ...)
    • (alternate world, apocalypse, ...)
  • featured creatures (aliens, angels, androids, artificial intelligence, zombies, youkai, ...)
  • jobs/vocations (artists, astrologers, assassins, adventurers, ...)
  • abilities (ability steal, disabilities, hidden abilities, special abilities, ...)
  • sexual stuff (handjob, paizuri, BDSM, rape, reverse rape, sexual abuse, sexual cultivation technique, ...)
  • relationships (adultery, affair, broken engagement, sex friends, arranged marriage, ...)
I would love it if tags could at least be sorted into these kinds of sublists. I think having categories like this and then a drown-down menu for each of them would make looking for what you have much easier because you could ignore some completely. E.g. no romance? Don't have to look at love interest or couple tags at all. No creatures? Just ignore their list. At the same time, you'd have several shorter lists which makes finding what you want in those categories faster as well since, well, there's not as much to scroll through.

This is good suggestion yes.
