I tried my luck on series finder, but maybe I'm putting some tags/generes wrong, because I still can't see to find it.
The protagonist was leading a group of fighters to kill a vampire, they failed and he was tied up. The vampire wanted to turn him into a vampire too, but he didn't want to because of his believes and connection to church. He turned into a girl after he died resisting the turn and was reised as a zombie. He is half a zombie, half vampire now. He hates his "mother"; the vampire that turned him into what he is now, but stops as the story progresses.
He wakes up near a mine and is forced to work there under a human order with other zombies. He slowly starts killing other zombies after discovering that he can absorb their powers.
It has a little bit of romance, but only after a long while. I'm pretty sure I found it looking for gl novels, but I couldn't find it myself, so I don't know now.
