Bot Comments are Evolving

Have you noticed bot comments are getting smarter? Scammers are training them on which words get the best reactions from authors. If someone want to talk to you outside SH, they're probably not a person at all.

There is also a new kind of bot going around that just attacks the author. It accuses people of using AI and flames everything until they delete their work so the story can get stolen and reposted by someone else.

The best way to counter them is doing the opposite of what they want: keep writing whatever you want. Possibly some sort of toxic omegaverse with old man yaoi and mpreg. So much of it, in fact, that if they feed it to AI, it will start regurgitate that and only that.

That's very interesting. I think that's what happened to me a few years ago on another site. Someone made war against me until I had to leave the site.

And then I found a post by moderators on another popular site very similar to this one from about 3 years ago where they went after a whole cirlce of flamers that were caught trying kill off stories of their rivals. Just so they could get a little ahead themselves. But before they caught wind of the fact that that was happening it meant there were victims for many years.

Its very hurtful what those people are doing. I've recovered to a degree but not the same as I used to be at. I'll never fully recover from it even though my writing is better and I have better and more stories, the writing market is smaller now. So it doesn't allow me to fully recover now. The time where I was attacked my story had over 2 1/2 million views and lots of followers. I can't get that back.

But I want people to be aware of this. If they are aware of it then when they hear of someone going after a story or a writer then they can act to try to help them be protected instead. So it can be stopped.

I don't know if these are bots but I have had "artists" add me on social media, immediately jump into my Direct Messages and then want to sell me their art...after they tell me how crappy my profile looks.

Goodness me! I'd slap a block button on them too faster than they could say, "Well hey sailor!"

That's so true I have a few followers that aren't real. They just don't exist.

Happened to me every few months, which is alarming enough that I actively ignore anything that DM or take it with a heavy dose of caution.
