Block Notifications from Profile Status Comments

Sometimes, after commenting, I cease to become invested in the conversation happening in a profile status. I wonder if a way can be made to block notifications from it once it's no longer personally interesting. Yes, you can control whether you want to recieve such notifications in your settings as a whole, but I would like more modularity.
