As of this moment, I do not care about the ratings because I have a fan base outside this platform and my readers are very much supportive.

If you are satisfied with your work and you know that your story is good, then you can ignore the low ratings. Anyway, readers who truly understand and appreciate your content will post a good review for your story.
I don't see any 1* rating in your novel.

I received a One Star
Uwaaa.... that's quick...
:blob_hmm_two: :blob_hmm_two: :blob_hmm_two:... do authors see one-star rating before the public do?
as of this moment, neither of your series have been rated...

Mine was "meh", to be honest.
For me, I consider myself more of a story teller. Its more important to get the stories out than some other aspects. I get that's a turn off to some, but I can always go back later and rewrite (or have someone else do some revision and editing if I ever get serious with it).

When I look at it from that angle, I'm not really all that bothered.

I think so. There is a rating of 1 star in both my books. They were up for less than two hours by now. Now, the rating became 5 stars. Idk what happened. :blob_melt:

This is the good thing about web novels. Authors can go back and edit their work. I myself have edited my novels multiple times because there are some mistakes that are difficult to spot. For example when I mistyped letters. I don't notice it because they still form words although the word should be different. It is difficult without a proof reader but we do what we have to do to get a new chapter out.

There was a one star. And then after an hour or so the ratings turned to zero.
:blob_hmm_two: :blob_hmm_two: :blob_hmm_two:
Since one a person rated something they can re-rate it but not un-rate it...

Either there is a bug that instantly give a temp 1 star, Or a mod came along and nuked it, after assessing it as a troll rating?

:blob_hmm::blob_hmm:
a side note, I wonder if someone rated something, then got banned or deleted the account Via Tony, do their rating stay or does it disappear like "likes" used to in NUF

It’s inevitable so I don’t give a damn unless there’s an alarming about which means something is obviously wrong.
There will always be a hater for everything regardless of reason or thought.

If I will receive one-star ratings and sudden bad reviews, then probably, I will stop my novel, and focus on my studies.

You know it's useless, no matter how much you do, you can't satisfy your beloved readers...

It means you are not good enough to be an author.

—But some some people who had a very strong fighting spirit could take that one-star
rating and review as a nothing. They just make it a challenge to improve their writing and styles.

But there are also some who are very negative in mind. Like me... If I know that I can't win then I accept my loss. If I know that I really have no talent at making a novel then I accept it, then move to another... Move until I can find the most suitable one that fits for me.
This is not. Not having a talent but simply giving up. Life is full of setbacks, So if you kept backing off at every single one of them, You will never achieve anything!!!

How does one determine whether something is a troll rating? Because I'm 99% sure there's a small but annoying group of "star snipers" who auto one-star anything they don't like (maybe anything that's not theirs) that shows up in the trending bar. For instance, within minutes of my story, Transfusion, popping up in the trending area, I instantly got two one-star reviews.

This isn't to say that I'm a god among authors who couldn't possibly get a one-star review but, rather, that there are cynical and disingenuous asshats gallivanting around and doling out one-stars just because. It's only a minor nuisance and, honestly, a bit funny. I'm not inclined to pay the rating system much heed, unless there's an accompanying explanation, such as, "The author does not appear to recognize the difference between the letters 'e' and 'a', which makes reading a bit difficult".

When I got my first 1-star I grew addicted to the tingling sensation of the corruption spreading through my veins.

Now I laugh at puny gods and their puny ratings.

I suppose we will never KNOW for sure...
How to spot troll ratings (the obvious one):
•[For new stories] The story isn't available in latest series yet, but there is already a rating.
•Other stories in latest series/latest updates received the same rating simultaneously.
•There is no visible increase in page views/valid reads, but a new rating popped up out of nowhere.

As for trolls, they can usually be identified with hidden/lack of user profile or reading list.

I would appreciate honest answers here.

I just received my first 1 star rating from another site, and honestly, I feel a bit disappointed in myself and my writing.

I know it could simply be a troll, or just someone who doesn't particularly enjoy my style of writing. However, it does cause me to take another look at my story. Questions like "should I rewrite the start?" or "did I fail to engage the reader?" come to mind.

How did you as an author overcome the negative thoughts?

As for me, though I felt down, the 1 star rating reinvigorated my passion to become a better writer and storyteller.

Just for clarity, I don't intend on dropping the story whatsoever. It will continue-on, in all its glory!

Cheers!

I got a 1 star temporarily for no reason..and then it automatically removed.I can confidently say it's literally impossible to give me a 1 or 2 stars at least you will give me a 3 never a 1 if you are into fantasy and from that genre's perspective and anime-style can't say for the rest...but anyway when someone says I have one star.

Me: WHO DECIDED THAT??

every time people rated my works either it's 1 star 2 star or something.I really wanted just to ask them question
for the 1 star that disliked my works i wanted to know what's wrong with my novel so i can improve on that or fix that.As i started the novel to improve my grammar.
for people who give 5 star or 4 star i wanted to ask them what they like about my works so i know what to write in the future so i can surprised them by not going to path they like or just give them salvation by writing what they wanted the novel to be.
Alas scribblehub didn't let us knew who's the voter so i can't msg them. But at least i can communicated with my reviewers tho.

But 1 thing that i really angry is on my recent novel https://www.scribblehub.com/series/163289/norse-saga-story-from-gotland/
people just voted 1 star to it,well some people vote 5 star too.But i mean,i just released the prologue not even a plot or something.
Just a prologue in other words,'Hello i'm bla bla bla' and some people just vote it 1 star straight.
It really saddened me.I don't even get into the plot yet and some people just decided to trash it.
Are you okay man? Is your day hard? you can talk to me! just don't ruin other people works or mine.Let's relieve the stress.
