I don't think there's an issue with linking your own story in your own signature. If there's content in it that's not allowed on SH, then it'll get removed regardless of whether you link it...

I don't know. For some reason, the system doesn't let me update my signature with a link on it (because it's 18+?)

No. You have to post (five?) messages before you can make a signature. It's to prevent bots spamming links at people. There are hundreds of 18+ links in signatures.
