I love it when the religion in the world creates new expression. Not just swears, but phrases and unique habits.

The etymology of a lot of swears often form from common phrases turned into gags or as a means of mocking the current power of the time. It can be a lot of fun making them.

Ashes and thunder sounds like referencing a gods power or a reference to something morbid within the world.

Sounds fitting for a fantasy world.

I have seen "Ashes" specifically used in one work, where it has both historical and religious relevance, referencing a dark period of the continent's history where ash covered the entire land, an event attributed to angry gods.

That's the kind of usage I was thinking of.
