i got hit up by one of the editors from this place, talking about possible proposals which "may bring financial support to you."
I mean I dunno if I'll accept regardless, I don't even know what they want from me...but are they legit? I've seen books there I've also seen posted here, so...

Cuz I've had people reach out to me before about things like this, either for signing contracts or just hosting my novel on the site most likely exclusively. Or others. Like I said I dunno what they want from me yet. They just said "I believe you are the writer we are looking for." which could mean either they want my work to be on their website (EDIT :they just said they found me from my most popular work, My sister the villainess, which I kinda expected) or they may want me to write for them. Like make a whole new story? The guy saidsomething about how they're a sister platform of Dreame and that Ringdom is gonna be target towards high paced fantasy and whatnot. Which DOES fit MSTV to a T...but I don't know if the dude has even read my story lol. I mean the MC does hard drugs and gets reverse raped so hard several times when he's drugged out of his mind.

haha so he asked "so like is there any elements in your story that could cause moral concern"
and I'm like, "...you haven't read the story, have you? moral concerns are everywhere. The MC is a drug addict who had no problem unleashing a giant tentacle monster upon a mercenary village and having it molest then kill the residents...because they were under the command of a very scummy Noble, but still."

That was included in my response to several other questions and I haven't heard back yet but its only been a few minutes, Lol how much you all wanna bet that scared him away?

Hmm... 3 times I have heard this... you have to comb thru the thread to find it.

If I remember correctly, Author A got an email for what you mentioned.

I went and google the name of the site in question, from the site no longer existed but was re-directed to Ringdom novels in what I presume was a rebranding.

Ah~
here it is

the website is swordystory

@CupcakeNinja are you impressed? Impressed by my amazing memory!?!?!

I don't actually know but other people have said
Yes, it's a scam. They are using multiple accounts to send this to people, I received the exact same message from multiple accounts, and Swordystory is apparently under Dreame which has been a scam for years. Just report the account that sent it to you and ignore it.

Oh and stary is under dreame

And all the swordystories links to ringdom so... they are probably the same people.

dude say "how can an app be ranked top 3 in most countries then if its a scam" referring to either Dreame or RIngdom or whatever. Also I dropped those links in our convo and he said "We changed the name due to marketing reasons"

It really depends on if Dreame is considered legit or not... whatever the case for swordystories then Ringdom... they are really having an out-reach problem on SH aren't they....

The thing with Dreame is a bit murky... some claims that they make money and it's all good, others well... post big articles like these

I can spend the whole night googling dreame VS author IPs but I am getting sleepy... and since I don't write... or when i write I don't sell,,, my interest in this is falling rapidly ...

But it would be nice if someone in the community has some definitive answers tho... From a quick skimp the other payment agreement, (one that I am unsure if it's real) it sounds like they pay author once, and then they own your novel from then on, or that there is very little author protection thereafter and in order to use you own IP might have a lot of other complications...

Anyway, night.

Yeah I read that they only.pay you for finished works. Not for if its ongoing. Which I mean I do have a finished volume. But eh. I only know they DO offer 50$ per month IF you meet a minimum threshold of like...20k words or more per month? Which I may be able to do if I really tried.

But its not worth the effort I feel. So yeah. I doubt I'll go for it but he hasnt presented the actual proposal yet. Mainly asked questions, then we talked about the scam potential and then I let him go because he was tired.

No legitimate publishing company is going to reach out to you. No professional editors will either, really.

There's a tiny, tiny chance that an editor looking for work might be messaging random people. But if they are that desperate, maybe don't hire them anyway.
