I couldn't be bothered to do math or figure out numbers so I used letters for mine. Strength: A, Dex: C, Vigor: B-

That sort of thing cause numbers scare me.

I'd actually suggest you use the app Pathbuilder. Yes it's meant for the Pathfinder TTRPG, but I think you'd find the character creation stuff super useful. Pretty much everything you want is there (spirit would be "Wis + Int" in this case, and influence would be CHA, but it still holds) with the only real drawback being that it only goes up to 20. There are things you could do to go above that, but you'd still be somewhat limited by that level cap.
A lot of your items would also have their standard TTRPG analogues that you could base the stats off of.

I've never seen someone struggle so much writing a LitRPG
Have you ever played more RPGs than Skyrim?
Also doing it identical to D&D is only going to make it more confusing for you, create your own system.

What's the reason behind the lower +3 stat gain from Cat Burglar compared to the others (+5 and the +9)?

...

This is still a stat dump.

My eyes sort of just waxed over all the wall of text.

I am more confused than wowed by the numbers.

Most classes get a +5 race and/or class bonus, and how they're distributed depends on what their class requires. Cat Burglar is a stealthy class, so her bonuses are distributed between dexterity and spirit (for magic). Warseeker is a barbarian/berserker class, so all of its bonuses go straight to strength. Impwarden is a special case because it's one of the more difficult classes to learn and use effectively, so their bonuses get a couple extra points to help them along.

CAT BURGLAR (+2 TO DEX, +1 TO SPI)
CAPRID (FAUN) (+3 TO DEX, +2 TO INF)
If those are titles you should label them as so. As of now, I don't know what they are.

Cat Burglar is the class, Caprid is the race.
Ah, but only someone who's been following your progress with developing this would know that off the top of their head (Or you, of course) - better to put:
Class: Cat Burglar, Level # (modifiers)
Species (or Type or Heritage or Legacy ... well, Race seems to be out of vogue these days, sadly, so probably should be avoided): Caprid/Faun (Modifiers)

eg,
MIRANDA JACKDAW
Class: CAT BURGLAR Level 18 (+2 TO DEX, +1 TO SPI)
Type: CAPRID (FAUN) (+3 TO DEX, +2 TO INF)
STRENGTH: 29
DEXTERITY: 94
CONSTITUTION: 44
SPIRIT: 54
INFLUENCE: 38

Also, was listening to an audiobook the other day where the author used "Lvl" for everything - character level, skill level, etc... so, of course, the AI reading it read it as "Ell-Vee-Ell" every freaking time... If there's any chance this will become an audiobook, either just abbreviate it as "L" instead of "Lvl" or spell it out - otherwise you may have readers get giggle fits over all the EllVeeEll stuff...

I have never seen a party based LitRPG before - having the stat profiles between chapters or as "bonus chapters" (Chapter #.b - Character Sheets) is probably a decent way to track it. I only have my character get his stat sheet if he asks for a current profile (and ... to be honest, his improvements came fast enough that I lost track of them so only have his second update on file!)

What do you think, am I doing okay?
No.
Because the stats don't serve an in story purpose.
Here:
Character: Reed Ratliff

Class: Transmigrator

Rank: Baron (Family)

Race: Human/Dwarf

Personal Motto: "The dildo of consequences rarely arrives lubricated."

Alex squinted at that last part, "Well... that sounds like something I'd say." He moved on to his primary stats

Stronk: Beached Jellyfish

Chutzpah: Broken Gypsy Mirror

Acumen: Unsuspecting Trout

Rizz: Cheery Salesman

FPS: Catlike

Swole: Do Not Bend

Smert: Know-It-All

Alex just stared for a while before biting his lips to force himself to remain silent and not scream into the empty void that was the slowly forming night sky above. He took a deep breath, then let it out slowly before muttering, "What... the ever living FUCK... does this crap MEAN?" He glanced at the moon, "Would it have hurt you to give me simple, easy-to-understand point values?"

The moon did nothing.

Alex went back to examining his status and reached up to hit a tab labeled 'Magic.'

XP: 9.08

Mana: [ERROR]

Element: Water (LB) [Skill Tree]

Aura: Yes (LB) [Skill Tree]

Racial: Halfling [Skill Tree]

God: [ERROR] [Skill Tree]

Cheat Slot: Empty

CP: 760
Everything has a meaning and purpose. Is it clear? No. But it will BECOME clear with time.

Skyrim has a lot of similarities to DnD, which is why I said Pathfinder. Paizo took the DnD stats and rules and tried to simplify them. As a new player, I had no difficulty in understanding what was what and why.

@ThisAdamGuy If you scale Jeremy up to match Elise in ell-vee-ell (had to do it @CharlesEBrown ), would he represent an average human's abilities at that level and what does "average" mean in this world? If everyone was scaled to Derrick at 21, how would they compare before equipment bonuses? Like I said before, get pathbuilder (free version is all you need) and build out your characters just to see the stats first. It could even give you ideas on what sort of abilities each one may have (like your rogue using the thief/scoundrel racket).

Why not put it at the end of the chapter? That way if people want to read it, they will read it and if they don't, skip! And only put what's necessary. Like for example you put in Jason in the chapter. And then we know Jason's stat changes, but Miranda doesn't appear anywhere in the chapter. So it makes no sense to have Miranda's stats there too.

Alternatively, you could do what Dragon Quest manga did. As in give stat updates at the end of the chapter, but every end chapter has different characters. Also no side character stats, only the 5-6 main characters.

You forgot the stat where when at low health, 20% chance for plot armor dodge. Yes, that was a thing, and how I won quite a bit of runs. :blob_hmm_two: :meowsip:

Cornered, surrounded on all ends. All team down, just my one unit left. And Val won due to the power of plot armor dodge at a rate of 20%. :blob_evil_two:

Yeah, not a single attack hit. Heavens know the odds of that happening at that rate. :blob_sir:

I always like the stat and character information stuff to be behind spoilers, that way if I am not interested I can always skip them. Otherwise, only thing I can say, is be consistent with your stats; if normal human is 10 across the board of XYZ stats, I expect a person with 20 in that stat to be better either logarithmically or exponentially, but not both across the same "stats".
  • So either a Strength 20 is twice as strong as a person that has a strength 10; and twice as intelligent if that was the number difference for Intelligence and so on. Many a random LitRPG story.
  • Or a 10 gives a +0 bonus and 20 could be a +4 bonus to rolls across all stats. Ala D&D.
  • Or a 10 Strength gives a Basic Lift of 20 lbs and a strength 13 gives a 40lbs basic lift and a 20 gives a 200lbs basic lift. (Basic Lift is from GURPS <Generic Universal Role Playing System> and is the mass/weight you can lift with 1 hand in a second)
But whatever you use, BE CONSISTANT!
