Oh ye, it looks like almost all recently released have exactly one 1*. Looks kinda weird. Yesterday got myself some weird 1s and 2s due to arriving at trending, but I didn't think that's worthy of report. If perhaps one of them came from the person who bombed, would be nice if you took a peek at mine during your research. I'm pretty sure that was just the typical "trending syndrome" for me tho.

Why would anyone even do this? I get being jealous of people who make it to trending, but just hitting everyone who posts...?

Damned kids and man-children wanting to make it to Trending by cheating.

I don't know, but I think it's better if we just drop the ratings instead? It's always the source of conflict, and the perpetrators could always get away with it.

I mean, I also get jealous and competitive of others making it to Trending, but I prefer getting there with my writing skills, not technicalities. (But yeah, I recently realized it's futile, so whatever. I'll just write ???)

I write for PM's like these: Your story is currently at the top of my list so I'll most likely read the chapters very quickly after released. So ignore my greediness for moar.

Having a nice ranking feels good, but the rating is just an extra. And very easily manipulated and broken, so yeah, having a decent one feels nice, but you can't control people, everyone has their right to dislike something and it's quite rude to always assume bad things at low ratings. I really didn't want to seem like some entitled Karen who can't stand a moment when something is not the way she wants, thus didn't bother even thinking about my recent 1s and 2s. As long as people have fun, that's great.

Well, it's just a suggestion.

could stuff like this be solved by hiding the ratings behind being a valid reader of at least 5 chapters or some such?
so if you did not read at least 5 chapters you cannot rate any stories?

I think RR have similar features that does this, except that it requires 1 chapter instead of 5. Something like this:

Not all stories have 5 chapters. Locking the rating function at 5 chapters made it impossible for most short stories and oneshots to receive ratings.
