I'm looking for romance stories that actually have plot (in regards to the romance). No, I don't mean stories where the romance is just a sub plot, but rather the romance between the dude and the gal actually have a reason to exist.

I'm fine with original works, you can post your stories if you want and if it seems interesting enough I'll get in on that, but currently I prefer actual like at least semi professional works but I'm not the most picky guy for these kind of stories (AS LONG AS IT'S NOT HAREM).

For specifics, I'm really in the mood for enemies to lovers with modern world background.

If you are looking for anime/ manga, then I can't recommend "a silent voice" enough.

If you are looking for a short story that won't take long too read, check out "three days of happiness" (though there are no enemy to lovers themes here)

If you are okay with gl and light novels, "I'm in love with the villainess" is a story I enjoyed quiet a lot (the light novel series).

I am an enjoyer of gl, so from this site I would also recommend to check out the completed stories of QuietValerie https://www.scribblehub.com/profile/12662/quietvalerie/

My novel Warfare Augmented Intelligent Frame Unit has enemies to lovers trope, but it's cyberpunk mecha romcom

Hello! Your post really caught my eye because my story lines up with what you’re looking for: a possible romance between two rival main characters, set in a modern world (with a twist).

It’s a slow burn, but the romance is integral to the plot rather than just a subplot. I take the project very seriously and hope to publish it as a professional light novel one day, so I’d really appreciate if you’d give it a look and share your thoughts.

Suddenly all the romance shows I’ve watched disappeared from my memories…

How about “Marry My Husband”? It’s a K-drama set in the modern world. Rebirth/revenge, fast-paced, with a sweet romance. Though it’s not enemies to lovers. (Actually… I don’t think I know any true enemies to lovers)

A shoujo anime (and manga) called “Lovely Complex” is a modern rom-com featuring a taller girl and a shorter guy. They’re friends but are always bickering and arguing with each other. It’s actually quite hilarious! The romance is also very cute. I can never turn down a couple that actually start dating during a show. Not really enemies, but rivals to lovers?

Another shoujo anime called “Kamisama Kiss” is one of my favorites because I love folklore. It’s still set in the modern world, but it features a lot of yōkai and historical fantasy elements. Still not enemies to lovers, but they start off as a bickering couple who slowly begin to understand each other. Also the art style is really pretty. I’m a simple girl though, so of course I’ll be into a show with a bunch of pretty guys ? there are multiple guys that flirt with the FL, but I definitely don’t think it’s a reverse harem because only the ML gets real romance, and plus they actually date each other.

The 1985 book (also has a TV show!) “If Tomorrow Comes” is a crime drama where the FL becomes a con-artist due to circumstances. The ML and her spend some time initially conning each other, then later work together. That could be enemies to lovers, sort of?

Or~ (shameless self-promo hehe) you can take a look at my story~ although it’s a historical romance, not modern… It's a Gothic soft romance set in a Victorian England-inspired world, my spin on the classic vampire x vampire hunter, immortal x reincarnated human lover trope. It’s kind of enemies to lovers? I mean he nearly kills her in the beginning. ? Warning: it is very slow-burn. The ML is gradually introduced in between the FL's chaotic hunting life and family life. No grand romantic gestures yet, but a lot of heart-to-heart conversations. In the beginning you follow the FL's personal life and emotional development more. He’s just started to court her in the recent chapters. Because the romance is very slow-burn, I can just tell you the chapters that the ML shows up: 3-5, 8, 16-22, 27, 34, 39-42, 51-54 (53 and 54 not uploaded yet). The most romance-heavy chapters are 20, 40-42, and 51-52. The romance will be amped up from here on out.

Thanks for the detailed recomendation~ also yeah I think I should've used rivals to lovers not enemies, I used enemies to lovers cuz iirc it's an actual tag that I have actually seen before. :blob_cookie: :blob_cookie:
