I am just wondering if we are allowed to add our own stories to our reading list and favourite some chapters? My concern is whether there is a stigma/taboo/rule of this as that means there will be 1 more reader and a few extra favourites than it supposes to deserve.

For me, like anything I do, it's for practicality and ease of use.

Sometimes it's easier to go right into the story when you are already on the reading list. 1 less click for a user makes a lot of difference on any website if you have work in web development long enough.

As for favourites, there are certain chapters I'm proud of writing for so I like to re-read them again. Once in a while, while editing in Scribble hub, I also like to use these chapters just in case I forgot something crucial or trivial. Even though I have offline documents where I mainly write already, it's a hassle to open 2 separate screens for this at times.

Do you know how many authors rated their story out of mistake?

You can’t even see who liked your chapters, how is someone supposed to know unless you make it public?

You can even hide your reading lists, or create a list for you own stories. I don’t really see a reason why someone would witch hunt you for doing that =_=

I wonder through why you would go so far as adding your works to a reading list. Clicking create is faster imo.

As someone who did add their own work to their reading list, I can answer this question. If you check your reading list for updates frequently, your own story is right there on the list for after you get done checking the other series. If none of them have updated, you are already on the reading list and your story is right there. In this case, the reading list method is faster.

(And yes, I use the route through "create" when I just want to go to my own stories and am not interested in checking out other people's stories first.)

I 100% always add my own works to my readings lists.

I 100% give myself a free 5-star rating. Though whether or not it sticks is beyond me.

I 100% always favorite my own chapters.

And I 100% sometimes read my own stories.

Why? Because I want to, and I'm hurting nobody by doing it.

So, do whatever you want.

I always rate my stuff because doing so auto-updates the read counts. It gives me an idea of how many people are reading my chapters and when. And having my current projects on my reading list just staring at me expectantly motivates me to write them. Honestly, if you've got any kind of following, being a 'fan' of your own work makes a negligible difference.

Edit: That said, I never favorite my chapters, because I don't think there's any functionality to that.

The person explained it quite well. As I stated, a few fewer clicks make a lot of difference. I am just unsure if it was allowed.

I never talk about rating my own stories, just reading list and favourites.

Thank you for the explanation. I used the same purpose too.

Yeah you're fine to rate / favorite your own stuff. Fake/bot accounts are the only no-no.

That's good to hear!

Well, what you say it's true. I can do whatever I want and I'm not hurting anyone. What I'm asking for if it's a rule or culture here.

Now at least I have an idea of what everyone thinks about it.

You got a point there. Thank you for answering!

I see that a lot does it but have their own reasons so that's good to know!

I rated mine on purpose. Guess how many stars I gave it!
1-star :blob_hide:

(I just meant that rating can happen out of mistake and nobody cares about it |.<) much less liking a chapters which isn’t visible to the public :blob_cookie:)

I would not rate mine (i'll leave that for readers honest opinion), but I probably would make a reading list to separate out which are related series and which are stand alone stories. I have seen Wattpad authors do this as well, particularly if they write a lot of stories and wanted to kind of sort them in groups.
