I go by the fact it has runes in it.

Most of that description is found in hundreds or maybe thousands of stories. About the only not extremely common part is that the gaining something at a certain age involves runes on the forehead. Specifying it involves runes would probably eliminate the majority of what it would otherwise match but still involve many, but the forehead part might conceivably let someone realize what you are talking about if they read it. Unfortunately though, I don't think it's a series I'm familiar with.

that is the most generic description ever brother, what kind of slop are you reading that's the only way you can describe the story??? at least name a memorable character or something
