I'd say yes. In fact, I'd say that conversely, there's little to no meaning if your only goals are centered around your own personal satisfaction. We just plain can't fill our psychological needs caring only for ourselves. We'd just end up quickly spiraling into dissatisfaction and depression...

I'm a huge fan of the genre, so overabundance is a plus for me. Yeah, it means wading through a lot of garbage, but I actually find some of the garbage kind of fun and the rare actual good story makes it worth the trouble.

Yeah. Even if I can't relate to a main character, I can generally root for them or at least be curious enough about they're journey to want to see how it goes.
