    I honestly think that if you are not someone famous etc and you want to get more views etc 9k for a first chapter is too much.

    Is 5k words too much for the first chapter?

    5k words may seem a bit long for a web novel but tbh it's pretty normal for a novel to have chapters like that. So I guess it shouldn't be a problem. I think though, that you could make it that way: Chapter 1 - Prologue (I), Chapter 2 - Prologue (II) or sth like that ^^
