As for Google, it’s not instant either. Your story won’t be picked up by normal search engines until it starts appearing elsewhere on SH.

I had 20 or so chapters when I crossposted my story over here, and a simple but somewhat distinct cover. Seemed to gain some form of traction almost immediately. Dunno why. Maybe just lucky, maybe just hit the right niche audience with a decent amount of content. I’ve got next to no traction...

I guess? I don’t know the full scam, though, so they might demand some info first, like a paypal address to send an invoice to or something. Maybe they’re fishing for personal information to dox people with, dunno.

They’re not artists, they’re scammers trying to make a quick buck by, at best, sending you some AI slop, outright stolen work, or if you’re lucky something real but very low effort/quality. That’s assuming you receive anything.

I guess it depends on the goal of the story. If the idea is to make the humans challenged, there's ways to do it without outright nerfing their stuff. Drop them in another world but cut them off from logistical supply. Their guns / tanks / whatever work, but they only have so much ammo and...

Yeah, got some art commissions for my main characters and put them in there, alongside some vocabulary used in the story.

My guess is they just had to dump the db to a file so they could bring it up elsewhere and didn’t get the encoding right.

I saw the same thing in my story. Pretty sure during the recent downtime there was a database migration or backup/restore that failed to encode text properly. Either way, I fixed the emoji in my own story and it seems to have stayed fixed for now.
