I want to hide some novels but only the delete option is there. Does it completely erase the novel or not?

It was there for a while but after I edited it once it vanished. I looked at the time stamp where it should be and it's not there even after I rechecked after a few minutes.

I know that some authors even if they are readers like myself just decide to write a fabrication of one your favorite stories are usually amateurs but I've read some fan fictions with some really good word choice, grammar , plot development etc like that of actual novels so I was just wondering...
