Don't laugh at me for this, but I wrote a book about 3 chapters in (2.5K words each and I haven't quite uploaded any) and after all that invested effort, I dropped the book and started planning another one. What makes writers able to continue a book?

I've been going on and on about this, but I can't get my finger on it. If my chapters are longer or shorter, does it affect the number of days I post them? Generally, I just want to know if the amount of chapters finished equals the amount you update.
