How long do you give a book?

Excuse you, I'm a rebel, not a barbarian.

How long do you give a book?

I've never believed in reading books you don't enjoy, and it always bugs me when people say things like "Just push through to book X, that's when it starts getting good!" Am I crazy in saying that a book should be good from the very start? Yeah, I get that it can take a little while for the plot...

I'll do you one better, WHERE are chucking out Royal Kingdom commercials?

What are your first books you read that impacted you?

I've always been a reader, but the first book that I can say genuinely shocked me was one of the Redwall books (I forget which one). Before then, I just thought it was a given that the good guys would win and the bad guys would lose. And then Redwall started killing off good guys. Wait! Are they...

    Too spicy for RR?

That was what I said at first too, but it was kind of hard to keep that attitude when it turned out there was no audience for what I was writing. Your likes and comments are the first ones I've gotten in literal months. So I finally decided that I needed to at least try writing something with...

    Too spicy for RR?

Tried it. You know how people say dating sites only serve to destroy men's self-esteem? That's what querying books does for authors. Literary agent: "Our company receives thousands of query letters a day, so please don't expect to receive a response for at least twelve months after submitting...

    Too spicy for RR?

The one time I didn't get a rejection letter was when I queried an agent about Henry Rider: Clown Hunter. She wanted to see more of it, so I sent her the whole manuscript. Then I got the rejection letter. Apparently young adult fiction and body horror don't mix well with the mass market.

    Too spicy for RR?

I imagine that would get a similar response as querying unsolicited books to publishers, but with even less success. The reason literary agents exist is because anyone can write a letter saying "I JUST WROTE THE BEST BOOK EVER AND YOU SHOULD PUBLISH IT PLZ PLZ PLZ!" but it means something when...

    Too spicy for RR?

There are definitely people who treat RR like Fanfiction.net, but the majority are there for litrpgs. I had thirteen of my (currently) fifteen books on there, but none of them were litrpgs so I hardly got any attention at all.

    Too spicy for RR?

I want it to get popular enough that I can start making money off of it, either through Patreon of Kindle Unlimited. The dream is that it becomes the next Dungeon Crawler Carl, but I'll settle for a little supplemental income. Maybe I could get to that point without RR, but seeing how 99% of the...

    Too spicy for RR?

I haven't been either since they banned my old account, but if I want there to be any chance at all of my litrpg WIP going somewhere, I need to be on that site.

    Sexy vs Creepy?

I made a post a few days ago about how my WIP isn't sexually explicit, but still has some "spicy" moments in it. Rereading them now, I find myself going back and forth between thinking they're fun and well written, and them being...not that. You know how people complain about how the sexy parts...

    Show and Tell

    George

George is two months old and is half Siamese. I actually went to the shelter wanting to look at a different cat (an orange one, because I wanted to see if the whole "one brain cell" stereotype was true) but he'd already been adopted earlier that day. I went to look at the others, and as soon as...

Recommendations Dealing with sudden magical mutations

You might check out my book, Skinwalkers. It has lots of characters with shapeshifting powers. One of them used to be a dog, and is having to get used to acting like a person.

    George

He had a brother at the shelter named Fred. I was texting my mom and I told her I was thinking about naming him Chicken Tender. She didn't like that, so I decided to stick with George.

How many words did ya’ll write so far?

Thanks! I managed to completely burn myself out by doing that. I just recently got to where I can sit down and really write again.
