I'm not sure how I can describe it, but I like it when the pacing is fast and thrilling (?) Basically when things start happening quickly and you have to keep turning the page to see what happens next. Even better if I can imagine the voice acting and how those scenes would look in movie form...

I mean, if your gonna expand your cast by throwing more and more girls in there, it might as well be or pretend to be a harem. Nothing wrong with that, especially since you ssid you wanted her to be important later on, so better get those screentime and development time in.

I also know a few people like that, so I wouldn't really call you pretentious. There really are people like that, but I do have to admit that it makes me sad when people start shunning the cutesy stuff and waifu culture just because they discovered "meaningful" anime. I don't know people...

What keeps me going? The few readers I have. I have like a handful of those that engage, and being able to put out something to show them and discuss with them when a new volume comes out keeps me going. It's those whom I can share ideas and some more conversations about my story and characters...
