That’s the difference between drafting and editing. Writing a chapter is about recording events — what happens. Editing is about shaping the reader’s experience — pacing, tension, clarity, and emotional payoff. The first answers the story’s needs; the second answers the reader’s.

@L1aei but isn’t that the same? By “recording,” I didn’t mean literally recording events. Of course, we still have to decide what happens and what doesn’t.
