You will get 0.000000001% of that wealth

But to make up for it, you will also get free school lunches that will only occasionally poison you. Also you'll be able to pay with a QR code

Sounds good to me. 10% more wealth than what I can get

The free school lunch that will occasionally poison you is a bonus. You have to poison yourself here

The Chaebols are the ones running the country

I don't know if the Super-Rich have that power

Not sure how much of an influence they really have, but I want you to peep the dystopic horror for a second. The Hartono brothers, two of the richest people in the country, are the owners of Djarum--a cigarette company. And the brand is kinda everywhere. You have scholarships, sports teams, and concerts all sponsored by a fucking cigarette company

How'd they get so rich and influential? A lot of it's investments into other sectors, but smoking has also become way too ingrained in Indonesian culture. Lax regulations. Relatively cheap costs. Also the fact that Indonesia is one of the few countries that still runs cigarette ads, both on TV and on billboards.

And that's how we've arrived at the ridiculous smoking rates in this country

but lowkey a cigarette-fueled cyberpunk dystopia would kinda kick ass as a setting

To answer your question, I have appeared as your local tourism guide for this country. Believe me when I said I have the knowledge of this topic, because oh goodness, your question reminded me of all the history and politics books my father have in almost every single bookshelves in our household.

Riches in this country holds political power. This could vary between a small-scale power, to the nation-scale power, because of parties needing huge amount of money to run their campaigns. You should remember this quote from an autobiography written by politicians/Religious Scholar, spoken by a merchant he had met when he was a child, who was selling various kinds of goods.

"Us merchants are looking for power, while the politicians are looking for wealth. With this deal, I can support the country while also reaping benefits. That's a win-win, doesn't it?"
