It's not that hard to find chapter one. If you only want certain scenes and not the full experience, don't complain about missing something. Some stories heavily rely on character change and progression, there's no point reading them from the middle unsless it's such an overly template constructed story you can already predict every plot point.

I've never once experienced an interesting scene and wanted to read the book or watch from the middle.

Well, as an author, I also want to complain about finicky readers who only read one or three random chapters without understanding the narrative comprehensively.

But as a (former) causal reader, I can understand reader psychology... the average reader is simply looking for something entertaining. Therefore, their attention span is limited.
