I disagree.

There's a long-standing (pretentious?) dichotomy: Literary & genre ficiton

Both are great, it depends on the reader which kind of fiction they like.

There's nothing wrong with both... the two poles complement each other. Most authors start by telling the story of what happens to the characters (heavy-telling).
