My rewrite is doing better than my original. It’s already gained half of the original readers with just 7 chapters (7/50). But that’s because I changed the setting entirely, from high school to a corporate bank, and it might attract a completely new type of reader.

I wager there’s a difference between refining and rewriting. If it’s fixing the writing techniques, grammar, or adding/changing a few new details, then doing it on the old series is fine. But if the plot and plan had changed tons, then a new series would be better.

This is a minor complaint... but other authors might be affected by the decision.

Image... if a series is abandoned after dozens of chapters, readers might become skeptical and raise expectations for not abandoned series to hundreds of chapters.

As a result, other series might receive less attention due to the damaged reader trust.

It's not like they are being paid to write at the same time. I feel like people talk about reader trust too much for free stories. Consumer protections exist for consumers that are paying for things. It does cost you time, but that's kind of on you and me for reading webnovels in a space where 95% of novels aren't completed.
