So long as the VN has voice acting, so far my opinion is that 9/10 the VN is better than the anime. The only exception so far has been the original Steins;Gate anime which is equivalent to its respective VN imo. On that note currently watching a playthrough of Fate Stay Night, already seen the anime for it and Unlimited Blade Works afewyears ago. The VN is often on par if not surpassing the anime renditions so far.
