Well, reincarnation otome has a wide market.

However, I wish more authors would write local FMCs, princesses who grew up in a fantasy world (not reincarnations), because the conflict would feel more organic and grounded.

Note: My FMC is also a former princess of a local kingdom. You could consider it a dark version of villainess without reincarnation.

:blob_aww: A most common fallacy~.

@Eldoria :meowsip: The issue lies in the suspension of disbelief. Local characters would never possess the knowledge or experience a reincarnation brings to the table.

Reincarnations allows you to bring a set character at a younger age that would be possible.

Well, I understand that. Reincarnated characters can be considered representations of modern readers. That's why it's difficult to view reincarnated FMC without separating them from the modern world.

However, local FMC can also be interesting. Consider Majo no Tabitabi and Frieren. These anime are engaging, featuring local FMCs, exploring fantasy worlds. If they were reincarnated FMCs, the thematic story might not be as deep.

I have not read enough history to do local characters. Yet.

:meowsip: I never said that they cannot be. It just allows little girls to hit way harder than they should be able to in a cruel, more realistic world. That aside, I would say Frieren is cheating. They tell the story after her adventure. So she is already an established character who has grown.

:blob_neutral:In my case, for example, the original was a tad alive and sheltered in her outlooks. Of course, I can make her experience the adventure and make her grow along the way, but
a) her outlooks would be totally different
b) I do not see her being able to survive long enough without severe plot armour
