Yeah, there were some complaints on that. Meanwhile, here is me remembering all the stuff you had to figure out and deal with in the old games.
By the way, a bow is one of the easier weapons to use. As you can wound enemies easier from afar, and it comes with a lock-on to break wound.
Why would you play a monster hunter game if you don't want to use different weapons against hard bosses?
I have no idea. I still remember in the old games. Rathalos in the volcano used to sleep in the middle of an area you cannot reach. You’d need a bow or some kind of ranged tool. But the bow was the method for an easier time. Or fish to get Plesioth out of the water, or shoot at it. Etc.
Monster Hunter, the game have been pretty easy. So I suppose Capcom realized, if it is too easy. Their base will leave. If it is too hard, casual players might dip and won’t spend on micro transactions such as cosmetics. And what happened as a result in World was a game that was too easy for the base, and a bit too much for the casuals.
Tis for the best. Either the casuals will gradually get better at the game before it gets challenging, or they'll get bored before it gets to that point.
Monster Hunter is a game where you have no choice but to learn and adapt. Players who were here from the first game. They were taught to come entirely prepared, and to think how to make something easier. Those early games were brutal.
Please. I've played the very first monster hunter stories game, and found it was quite the easy experience.
Stories 2 was okay, I preferred Stories 1. It was a bit more difficult in terms of prediction. As well as Cheval, made for quite a rival battle. Plus the story was more interesting I found. The second did present something interesting with the Wings of Ruin. And they built it up, just to pretty much throw aside the plot point.
