The plan isnt mind control, its replacemment.

Same general outcome.
And why not both?
Alski
Alski
Because both would be redundant.

two things can happen at once, regardless of redundancy.

But that would be wasting shareholder money.

Unless both in tandem are more efficient.

Depends on what you mean by mind control, if you mean as a way to create better more targeted advertising/propaganda I would say you are partially correct. However the main goal is to lower the amount of workers required for specific tasks, so that the owner(s) of businesses can save on labor expenses.

Of course whether it will succeed or not, and whether the AI’s would be cheaply open to all or only open to the few people/businesses that can afford it is not yet known.

Finally we're closer to the dystopian world we yearn for-nya

The increasing efficiency of advertising and propaganda part is the most crucially important objective.
Money is an instrument of power and control, and is thus always less important than its object.
It's important to control how the majority of people behave.
Providing and removing employment is a more ancient lever on the control mechanism.

I would disagree too an extent. Modern AI’s work very well at doing one thing. If an AI wants to do something it was not primarily trained on it asks an AI that was. ChatGPT and LLM’s are only one aspect of modern AI. AI is also used and being developed for use in many non language or media form.

I think that makes my point.

As for the propaganda goal, it ignores the reality of media. That being that media, especially propagand, typically is used to represent/reinforce things that already exist or have existed. If a piece of media is being used to encourage someone to do something no else has done, it is still representing the hope/want people already had in achieving that thing.

A machine that generates propaganda will only be as effective as the things it represents. It is extremely hard to convince someone of something they don’t believe, and easier to convince them that something that they believe is correct. But this is beside the point. In a capitalist economy the goal of every technology is to generate profit.

The only thing LLM’s and simmliar AI’scan make is video, text, images, and audio, all of which are hard to create a profit off of. This has not created a new product, but has streamlined the creation of an old one. Thus the purpose is more to replace then to propagandize. However one could technically argue that all media is propaganda.

Individualized behavioral profiles based on an analysis of a myriad of data points extracted from countless observations juxtaposed onto society at large via the monitering of billions of individuals will transcend the limits of mere propaganda.
JayMark

Machines will be able to instantly calculate these data points, which would be a flood of static to ordinary human minds, and use them to modify behavior through policy outputs at the behest of their masters.

Profit is a distraction, for profit is merely a tool in pursuit of control. Control will always be the ultimate goal.

It is easier to change behavior. There are many things and actions people do not hold strong beliefs about. You change people's behavior first. Then their beliefs usually follow.
