Exposure is like cash on the street, you aren't looking for it every day, but that's a welcome event.

Anyway, it's not necessary. You won't get into troubles if you don't put any tags. You shouldn't purposely put wrong tags tho, but I don't know if Tony ever manually edit a story because of it.

You use them so others can easily find your novel. It could help some to identify what your story is about by seeing (minor) spoilers.
