They should make a lovers to enemies tag, and then it would be more realistic.

Just how popular is the whole enemies to lovers thing?

It's hard to say. I think it shows up every now and then, but it doesn't seem “mainstream” anymore, I guess. Like, people want them to become and act like lovers soon as possible, so they can't remain enemies for too long.
