People who research the psychology of a trope ruin the trope. They need to stop doing that shit.

Isekai is escapism.
Kicked out of party is their dream of leaving a shitty place that doesn't appreciate them and leaving said place can make them better, somehow.
Japan has one of the biggest cheating rate. Not all guys like to get cucked.
Plain MC getting loved by hotties is not just a JP male thing, it is a every plain male in the world thing

I'd agree, but I do also wonder if all that could be traced to a single societal source :blob_hmm:

Reminds me of an old Digibro video about No Game No Life and the otaku hero's journey that I can't bother to try and remember

@RepresentingWrath @JayMark Tropes are a touchy issue, like that uncle no one in the family ever talks about. I think deconstructing tropes can lead to fresh and interesting takes, even when critical, but it can very easily come off as annoying instead... especially when it's clear the deconstructionist clearly doesn't even like the medium itself *cough* western VN devs *cough*.

Nah, it never makes interesting takes. All it does is destroy the fun.

This is also why I'll never write an isekai story (I barely write anyway). I don't like them at all, so being cheeky about them is gonna come across as super annoying.

:meowsip: The concept of marriage and marital bonds differ through time and age~.

That I do agree with. Location and culture too

I think in this day and age there is nothing but deconstruction of deconstructed tropes. It's boring as fuck when all everyone do is deconstruct the deconstruction of deconstructor. Here's a novel concept, instead of deconstructing for nth time, how about you construct something, if you know what I mean.

If you mean writers should try to be more original, I definitely agree :blob_hmm:

I still stand by looking at tropes critically and extracting something interesting out of them, but a lot of the "deconstruction" that I see is either annoying people who don't like the genre/medium or weak meta bullshit that's equivalent to someone shitting in the middle of the street and going "Isn't it crazy how I'm shitting in the middle of the street?"

There's levels to it.

No, not more original. They should stop deconstructing cause it's been overused to such a degree that there is nothing to deconstruct anymore. All is left since decades of deconstruction is a leveled, flat ground. There is nothing to deconstruct anymore bruh.

That was implied. In the western world, the idea of marriage is dominated by the Christian thought. Largely voided of any religious meaning, but the moral teachings survive. The Islam is close in that regard. So I figure in Indonesia the concept of cheating is also strongly rooted. No idea about Buddishsm and other religions.

Japan meanwhile ... had always an ambivalent view on the matter.
