Don't know anything bout your story but I would always recommend showing the audience natural growth of a power as opposed to just unlocking a feature in the climax.

Don’t worry about that. The whole story is a natural growth. Everything was building up to the climax either way.

I have always done this. You’re meant to get only one look at the main unchained. 8 Guardian battles, each battle they steal their power.

Those powers are relied on a lot more than their own, since it is a lot more strenuous to use their own due to them being weakened from a 1000 year seal.

The build up leads into Chapter 5, where it continuously builds towards their complete awakening in the finale.

Consistently with the theme, it doesn’t break anything. It was just a slight thing that I intended to show once more around Chapter 5.5.

I would have locked it to the finale afterwards either way.
